Oline Dickey Ridgeway, 90, of White Oak Estates Retirement Center, died Saturday, February 28, 2009, at her home. Born December 5, 1918, in Fairfield County, SC, she was one of eight children born to the late William John and Ella Baker Dickey. She was predeceased by her husband Samuel Bowman Ridgeway, Sr. in February, 1997. She was a graduate of Great Falls High School and attended Spartanburg Junior College. Mrs. Ridgeway was a member of First Baptist Church North Spartanburg. She was a homemaker who enjoyed entertaining her family and many friends with great meals and delicious desserts. She was proud of designing and making clothing for over one hundred porcelain dolls. She loved traveling and was always the first person on the White Oaks bus. She enjoyed line dancing even until she was nearly ninety. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always liked a good joke and loved her family and friends.

Mrs Ridgeway was the beloved mother of five children: Doris Ridgeway Hotaling (Ed) of Maitland, FL; Rebecca Ridgeway Cantrell (Willie) of Terrell, TX; Samuel Bowman Ridgeway, Jr. (Tina) of Spartanburg; Kathryn Ridgeway Shelton (Joe) of Huntsville, AL; and Eric Dickey Ridgeway (JoAnn) of Greer; and one brother Jack Dickey (Joyce) of Pawleys Island. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Louise Dickey and Peggy Dickey, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel. Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel conducted by the Rev. Steve Dickey and the Rev. Dr. Michael S. Hamlet. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Mobile Meals Services, P. O. Box 461, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

The family is at the home of her son, Sammy Ridgeway.
