Ora Lee (Metcalf) Thompson was born Friday, September 19, 1924 in Finch, Oklahoma to Sam & Lela (Taylor) Metcalf as one of ten children.

She married husband Cecil Thompson on July 22, 1944 in Durant, Oklahoma where she went on to start a family of her own, raising six children. She loved to plant vegetable gardens and quilting. She loved to cook for her family, especially her famous fried potatoes. She was a member of Harvest Hour Pentecostal Church for more than 30 years. She was always known around the neighborhood as "Granny" and would tend to every child, including those that were not hers. It was said that if you didn't get enough to eat at Granny's house, then it was your own fault.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Cecil on March 9, 1997; brothers and sisters; Acy Chumbley, Flora Lee Bridges, Clinton Metcalf, W.T. Metcalf, Mary Jane Bridges, Dorothy Shay, Geneva Collier, A.J. Metcalf and one grandson.

She is survived by her children; Evelyn McClure of Calera, OK, Joyce Jackson of Tomball, TX, Liz Stevens of Houston, TX, David Thompson of Platter, OK, Deborah Craddock of Platter, OK, Carla Scott of Bells, TX; 9 grandchildren; 1 step-grandchild and 8 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Bratcher Funeral Home in Denison, TX.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Platter Baptist Church in Platter, OK with Pastor Marion Ingram officiating and burial to follow at Thompsonville Cemetery in Platter, OK.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Craddock, Cecil Craddock, Dale Craddock, Josh Lewis, Terry Metcalf, and Dale Dawson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 105 Decker Ct., Suite 200, Irving, TX 75062.
