Orville J. Gray, 93, was a lifelong resident of Randolph County, NC.

In his youth, he farmed local tobacco fields. At the age of 18, Orville joined the U.S. Army and was in combat during World War II. He participated in the battle to liberate the Philippine Islands, New Guinea and Luzon in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, Japanese Invasion Campaign. Orville received four Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon for his military service.

After serving in the war, he was employed in the private sector with High Point Weaving Company, Burlington Mills Corp in High Point; and Jamestown Phillips Velvet Mills of Jamestown, NC. All as a skilled machine repair and maintenance person.

Orville was the last remaining member of his family's siblings.

Survivors include his Son, Orville J. Gray, Jr. (Diana); Grandson Orville J. Gray, III; Granddaughter, Brooke A. Gray; his Wife, Annie Gordon Gray; Stepsons William Loflin (Janet) and Jerry Loflin; and several grand children.

The family is most appreciative to Mr. Gray's "Good buddy and friend", Don "Bubba" Tysinder of Archdale.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 10 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Orville will be laid to rest at Deep River Cemetery at 1:00 PM, with full Military Honors.
