Oscar Julius Joffray, 93, of Swansea, Illinois, born January 16, 1924 in Belleville, Illinois passed away peacefully in his home, on December 29, 2017.

Oscar was known as "Ossie" to his family and friends. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, during World War II. Ossie was a Purple Heart recipient, showing that through his own battle he remained heroic in his fight for our country. Ossie went on to work as a policeman in Belleville, and then as a foremen for Illinois Power, for over 30 years. He enjoyed golfing and trips to Eckert's, to pick fruit and read comics in the newspaper. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, great-great grandpa, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his son; Jonathon Joffray; his parents, Oscar and Sophia (nee Adrian) Joffray and his siblings; Delores Bueschen, Blanche Ogle and Helen Lugge.

Surviving are his loving wife of 51 years, Corrine (nee Farmer) Joffray; his son, Michael (Vickey) Joffray; his step-children; Sandra (Terry) Bailey, Janice (Jerry) Cox, Richard (Neta) Slayden and David Slayden; his sister, Virginia (Rus) Mueller and a number of dear grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nepews, relatives and friends.

Memorial Visitation: Friends and family may visit from 10 am to 11 am, Saturday January 13, 2018 at Lake View Funeral Home, 5000 N Illinois Street, Fairview Heights, Illinois 62208.

Memorial Service: A memorial service will be held immediately following visitation at 11 am, Saturday January 13, 2018. Interment to be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
