Otrice Tipton (Shows) Edwards was born January 31, 1926 in the small community of Martinville, Simpson County, Mississippi to the parents of Vayon Vealier Shows, Sr. and Winnie (Bynum) Shows. She died on October 3, 2017. At the time of her death, she was living in Ridgeland, Mississippi. She lived most of her life in the Martinville community of Simpson County, Mississippi. She spent the middle part and last part of her life in Pearl, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harland Edwards. They were married 57 years. They were born and grew up during the Great Depression and survived World War II. Otrice was the granddaughter of John Luther Shows and Mary Clemmens (Jones) Shows. She was the great granddaughter of Martin Luther Shows and Sarah Elizabeth (Walters) Shows. All were residents of the Martinville community, Simpson County, Mississippi. Otrice was affectionately known as "Tip" to her close friends and relatives, "aunt Tip" to her nieces and nephews and "mama Tip" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Otrice was a devout Christian and a member of Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church located in the Martinville community of Simpson County, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her sisters: Wilma Tunis (Shows) Powell, Myrtle (Shows) Prince, Audrey M. (Shows) Picou and Virginia (Shows) Mohr; her brothers: Vayon V. "V.V." Shows, Jr. and Robert "Bob" Grady Shows and one grandchild: Janice Lynn Edwards. She is survived by her only son: Charley M. Edwards and his wife, Barbara Gail (Malone); her grandson, Chad M. Edwards and his wife Ginger (Mott) and their two children, Dylan J. Edwards and Madalyn G. Edwards and her other grandson, Daniel J. Edwards. She is also survived by one sister, Gertrude (Shows) Wells and one brother, Luther Raymond "Ray" Shows and many nieces and nephews.

Otrice worked most of her life in the banking industry having worked for The Mississippi Bank and Peoples Bank in Mendenhall, MS. She retired as an Assistant Vice President of The Mississippi Bank, Pearl Branch. She attended Martinville School and Mendenhall High School. She was a graduate of Draughn's Business College. She was active in the Pearl High School Band Auxiliary, Boy Scouts and she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00pm, Friday, October 6, 2017, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11:00am, Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Good Hope Primitive Baptist Church, 247-249 Good Hope Road, Mendenhall, with interment to follow in the Good Hope Cemetery. Her body will lie in state one hour prior to services.
