Patrica A. (Peltonen) McVeigh,76, of Manchester, was called to heaven on June 15, 2017 at her residence after a brief illness. She was born at Sacred Heart Hospital in Manchester on December 4, 1940, the daughter of the late T. Ernest and Anna (McCarthy) Peltonen. She was raised and educated in Salem, Dover, and Manchester, NH and was a graduate of Sacred Heart School of Nursing in 1961.

She enjoyed a career in Nursing working primarily in Maternity, Labor, Delivery, and the Nursery. She loved working with babies and their families. Patricia was a patient and quiet leader in her field with a focus on her team and care and delivery. She was respected and admired for the support and care she gave to her patients. She practiced empathy, kindness and keen listening skills, and she led by example so that everyone around her could practice and learn these virtues as well. She was a spiritual person as she taught her family to pray to St. Anthony when we lost items and she would light a candle at the Precious Blood Monastery when love ones were ill or in need and she prayed for her family with her bible and rosary. She loved to laugh and dance and listen to music and above all else, she loved her family and friends.

She married William J. McVeigh in 1966 when he returned home from serving his country. They started their family and then shortly after purchased their home at 1261 Page Street. Many wonderful memories were developed in this home.

She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years William "Bill" McVeigh in 2010 and by her sister Joanne (Peltonen) Deaton in 2008.

Members of her family include her two daughters, Colleen Philibotte of Ooltewah, TN and Cheryl McVeigh of Manchester, her son Brian McVeigh of Rye, her four grandchildren Katie Neil, Maggie McVeigh, Abby McVeigh, and Charlotte McVeigh and her brother John Peltonen of Goffstown as well as several nieces, nephews and a cousin.

Visitation was held on Monday June 19 from 4to 7 pm at the McHugh Funeral Home 283 Hanover St. corner of Beech St. in Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday June 20 at 10 am at St. Pius X Church 575 Candia Rd. Manchester Burial followed in St. Joseph Cemetery Bedford.
