.Paul E. Tigue Sr. 97, of Stroudsburg passed away peacefully Wednesday May 31, 2017 at the Slate Belt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the loving husband of Mary Sue (Breece) Tigue , together they shared 16 years of marriage.
Paul would have celebrated his 98th birthday on September 28th, 2017. Born in Pittston, he was the son of the late John and Loretta (Flannery) Tigue.
In 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army where he would serve his Country proudly during WWII as an officer of the Military Police. For many years, until his retirement, he worked in the textile industry at Redmond Finishing in East Stroudsburg. Paul was a Lifetime member of the local chapters of the American Legion, VFW and Elks Clubs. He was of Catholic Faith and a member of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church. Paul will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife Mary Sue, those left to cherish his memory include daughter; Mary Patricia DeRenzis and husband Thomas of Stroudsburg, step daughters; Donna Slutter and husband Donald of East Stroudsburg, Valerie Conger and husband Robert of Sciota, nephew Frank Jackson and wife Joan of Mechanicsburg, granddaughters; Paula Ruhl, Jeanna Newell, and Debbie Downey: great grandchildren; Connor, Sydney, Andrew, Jackson, Christopher, Justin, Matthew, Lucas.
He was predeceased by his brothers : Walter, John, Harold, Francis, Fr. Linus, sister Marie Jackson, son Paul E. Tigue Jr. and step son James Holland.
There will be a viewing from 11am to 12pm on Monday June 5th, 2017 at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, 818 Main St., Stroudsburg, PA 18360. Rev. Fr. Carmen Perry will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm. Burial will follow at the Laurel wood Cemetery Bryant St. Stroudsburg.
