Paul H. Lounder, 79 of Keene, passed away on May 8, 2017 at Pheasant Wood Nursing Home in Peterborough with family by his side.

He was born November 5, 1937, the son of Lois (Lampman) and Harold Lounder in Keene, NH. He grew up in Keene and Swanzey where he attended area schools, graduating from Monadnock Regional High School.

Upon completing high school, Paul proudly served his country as an Airman and spent time overseas in Japan.

Shortly after being discharged from the Air Force, Paul exchanged vows with the love of his life, Marlene Rhoades, in a ceremony on May 23, 1959 at the Swanzey Congregational Church.

Paul was a craftsman and was a meticulous wood worker. He was employed by Whitney Brothers (formerly Abbotts) and Port-O-Lite where he retired from in 2007.

Paul was a quiet man who will be fondly remembered for his caring ways. He enjoyed his abundant family life and his four-legged companions: a Shih Tzu, Blackie, and Border collie mix, Prince. Paul was known for his sense of humor and being a joker. He was an avid sports fan, routing for the Red Sox and cheering on NASCAR races, Dale Earnhardt being an all-time favorite.

Paul will be dearly missed by his wife of nearly 58 years: Marlene Lounder of Keene; three children: Paul Lounder, Jr. and his wife Theresa of Swanzey, Todd Lounder and his fiancé Stacy Smith of Keene, and LouAnn Dunham of Keene; ten grandchildren: Chad, Cory, Ashley, Brendan, Cameron, Morgan, Caoilinn, Amber, Tyson, and Ryan; eight great-grandchildren: Noah, Abram, Elijah, Calvin, Chloe, Khyra, Emma-Lee, and Rylee; sister: Shirley Champney of Winchester; and numerous extended family members.

He is predeceased by a great-grandchild: Asa; and brothers: David and Carl Lounder.

Family and friends are invited to call Monday, May 15, 2017 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. A service will begin at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home followed by a committal with military honors at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave, Keene.
