Colonel Paul K. German, USMC (ret.), (age 89) of Alexandria, VA. Passed away on April 9, 2017. He is survived by Lola and the children, Wayne (Martha), Leigh, Craig, Leslie and brother Ronald (Peggy). Following High School graduation in 1945, he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in China. In 1948 he was appointed to the Naval Academy where he graduated in 1952 and commissioned in the Marine Corps. Following the Basic School he entered flight training at Pensacola, FL. and he was designated a Naval Aviator in 1954. During his 30 year career, he served in numerous Fighter and Attack Squadrons and various staffs compiling over 4600 Flight Hours and commanding two Squadrons. He flew 284 combat missions in Vietnam and was awarded the Legion of Merit and 20 Air Medals for his combat service. He is a member of the Golden Eagles. Col. German was a member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at the Church, 1301 Collingwood Rd., Alexandria, VA to be held on June 3, 2017 at 11:00 am. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends contributions be made to, Wounded Warriors or Capital Hospice, 2900 Telestar Ct., Falls Church, VA 22042.
