Paula J. Brame Canik passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 18, 2017. Paula battled cancer for 18 years and was a true warrior. Donna, her sister, lovingly cared for her since her retirement and brother Gerald was her driver, gopher and dear friend.

Paula was happy to spend the last months of her life being with her mother. She was aware of her surroundings and received Last Rites from her friend, Fr. Raphael of the Holy Cross Fathers.

Paula is survived by her mother Cecelia Brame, her son James Lee Canik, her sister Donna Marie Hurley and their brother Gerald Lee Brame as well as her niece Heather Michael and her children, as well as relatives in Connecticut and Virginia.

One of her fondest last memories was a recent visit by her cousin Johnny, who cooked his famous meatballs and spaghetti dinner.

We all envied Paula and her many loving friends. She loved her trips to Hawaii, Las Vegas and family gambling trips to Lake Charles, as well as attending many lunches and dinners with her friends from ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66.

She held various positions while an employee at ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 for the past 30 years until her retirement in April, 2017.

She loved cooking for the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays making cornbread dressing with her brother and her fabulous "Death By Chocolate" - a sinful dessert.

Paula loved shopping especially with QVC and HSN - in fact she had them on speed dial!

She dearly loved her son James and her Yorkshire Terriers, Kirby and Patty, who gave her goodbye kisses.

Special thanks to Diane and Marianna for taking her to her treatments and caring for her toward the end of her life. The family would like to also thank Paula's friend Sandy Tietjen for her continued friendship and for all the vacations they shared together.
