Pauline Clay Wagner, 89, was born on September 11, 1923 and passed away at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap on Saturday (April 27, 2013).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burleigh J. and Haley Clay; her husband, Emmitt J. Wagner; two sons, Von Karl Wagner and Mark Wayne Wagner, Sr.; a sister, Opal Hamilton; and brother, Curtis Clay.

She is survived by two daughters, Marlene (Charles) Horton of Big Stone Gap, VA and Heidi J. Wagner of Roda, VA; two granddaughters, Shirley Horton and Vonda Wagner; three grandsons, Shane (Tiffany) Sneed, Shannon (Brooklyn) Sneed and Mark (Tiffiny) Wagner, Jr.; seven great grandchildren, Haley, Trevor, Hannah and Abraham Wagner, Slater Sneed, Brittany Christian, and Kullen Sneed; several nieces and nephews and good friends. She also leaves behind her best friends, Helen Hopkins and Janie Page to mourn her passing.

Pauline has been a member of the Exeter Methodist Church since childhood.

Pauline was a very loving mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family and their wellbeing. She was known to all the grandkids as "Old Mamaw." She was a very non-pretentious woman with high moral values. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the wonderful Dr. Watson and the staff at Lonesome Pine Hospital who saw her and the family through her final days. A special thanks to Tiffany Sneed who was always there for the family Also, thanks to Wylenne Warden, Judy Knight, Brenda Palmer, Rev. Ric Wright and all the members of East Stone Gap United Methodist Church for always being supportive.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap, VA.

The funeral service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Ric Wright officiating.

Burial will follow in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
