Pauline DelMonaco Hawner passed away peacefully on August 15th in Richmond, Virginia at the age of 92, surrounded by her family.

Pauline was born in New Haven, Connecticut and spent her early career at the Yale New Haven Hospital as a medical laboratory specialist working with pioneers of the original heart pump and developers of innovative cardiac surgery procedures. Pauline moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1959 where she worked at the Emory University Hospital and at CDC where she conducted global health charting for the World Health Organization. Pauline was a dedicated member of St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Richmond, Virginia.

Pauline is survived by her sons Eric M. Hawner and Dr. Philip P. Hawner, her two grandchildren Nicholas Hawner and Regan Hawner, and her sister Marie Gagliardi. Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Pierre H. Hawner, and by her parents, Maria and Pasquale DelMonaco of New Haven, Connecticut.
Pauline was married to Pierre Hawner for 51 years and was a very devoted and loving wife and mother who always encouraged strong values and provided unconditional support for personal and professional achievements and goals.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 9th at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Drive, North Chesterfield, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
