It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peggy Ann Cook, beloved friend and dedicated educator.
Peggy was born February 9, 1952 in Denton Texas. She was the only child of Samuel (Benny) and Bertha Cook of La Porte, Texas.
Peggy was a graduate of La Porte High School in 1970. She attended San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas, graduating from The University of Houston with a BA in Music Education and an MS in Education Administration from The University of Houston.
She began her career as a Band Director, teaching at public and private schools in Baytown, Dallas, Beaumont, and Houston for 36 years. When asked if she had children, Peggy would always reply,"150 of them every day". She truly loved her profession, and was fortunate to be a part of the Mayde Creek High School Family for the past 16 years in the Technology Department.
Peggy enjoyed fishing at her Condo in Galveston, a good steak, watching sci-fi movies and creating web-sites. She was a unique and talented individual who will leave a void in those who knew her.
Peggy attended First Baptist Church of Houston and is survived by her friends, Cynthia, Lorraine, Brett and Carolyn, Scott, Spring Shadows friends, and her loving Mayde Creek family.
Her friends wish to thank the members of the Team at the Nellie B. Connally Breast Center at M.D. Anderson for their care and compassion.
We will gather to remember Peggy on Sunday, January 14, from 3-5p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors,1415 Campbell Rd. Burial will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
