Peter Albert Repenning passed away on Saturday, 23 October 2016 surrounded by his immediate family.

The son of Albert Repenning and Estelle Vaillancourt Repenning, Peter was born October 16, 1932 in Oak Park, Illinois. He had two brothers, Charles and William. Foreshadowing a life-long love of music, one of his earliest memories was cringing as the neighbors practiced on a poorly-tuned piano. He attended Principia college in Elsah Illinois, where he majored in Physics. While at Principia, he discovered his second life-long avocation, flying. He received an MBA from University of Michigan and started a career in the computer industry working for General Electric. While working for GE in Chicago he met Caroline Marston Robinson and the two were married January 29th, 1967 (in a ceremony that was postponed one day due to a snowstorm). They have also been long-time residents of the North Shore. Caroline and Peter have four sons, Nelson Peter, John Ellsworth, Winthrop Brewer, and James Vaillancourt. In 1992 Caroline and Peter started GreenCycle Inc., an organics recycling company that continues to this day. Throughout his life, Peter was a dedicated fan of classical music- returning to regular piano lessons after a 50 year hiatus at age 70¬- and maintained a life-long love-hate relationship with golf, which he played regularly at Glen View Club and the Merit Club. Peter is survived by his wife, four sons, three daughter in-laws, eight grandchildren, and a dog named Rugby.
A memorial service will be held at Glen View Club, in Golf Illinois, at 4pm on Friday, the 28th of October.
In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to one of Peter's favorite organizations, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (http://cso.org/support/personal-giving/give-now/).
