Philip Lynn Harshbarger of Weyers Cave passed away January 30, 2016.

Born July 6, 1942 to John Carl Harshbarger Sr. and Alma Baker Harshbarger, he lived his entire life on the home place. He was very loyal to his family and proud that most of his ancestral lines extended directly back to the 1700s in the Shenandoah Valley.

Predeceased by his parents, he is survived by a brother John Carl Harshbarger Jr., John's wife Deborah Loreen Hixon and their daughter, Alys Amelia Harshbarger.

Philip graduated in 1961 from Middle River High School, Weyers Cave, and in 1963 from Woodrow Wilson Technical School, Fishersville, in Automobile Mechanics. He worked for several garages, Dixie Gas, Virginia Department of Transportation, retired from Western State Hospital and operated the family farm.
Philip was outgoing, personable and softhearted. Foremost, perhaps, among his hobbies and interests was attending Steam and Antique Tractor Shows. He was a member of Summit Church of the Brethren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Journey's Crossing, Elkton VA, for excellent assisted living care the last four months and Bridgewater Home, Bridgewater, VA, for excellent nursing care and rehabilitation several months prior.

Burial will be private. A memorial service will be held at Summit Church of the Brethren, Saturday, February 13, at 11 am followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall.

Donations in his name may be made to a charity of your choice.
