NORWICH - Philomena Rose "Fanny" (Malerba) Sangermano, 88, entered eternal life Wednesday morning at home.

Philomena was born in Brooklyn, NY to Francesco and Lucia (Piacenza) Malerba. She was the beloved wife of Joseph D. Sangermano. They were united in marriage in Brooklyn, NY on October 4, 1928; her 19th birthday. Together, they went on to raise their family in Norwich and enjoy 70 years of love and friendship.

In addition to her husband Joe, she is survived by her four loving children and their spouses, Joseph R. Sangermano and his wife Linda of Canterbury, Gina Donovan and her husband Michael of Norwich, Sharon LePage and her husband Mark of Griswold, and Deborah John and her husband John of Norwich; her nine grandchildren, Tracey, Joseph, Michael, Karen, Stephanie, Danielle, Mark, Jonathan and Alexis; and her nine great-grandchildren, Payton, Parker, Kylie, Julia, Zachary, Amber, Bethany, Josey, and Christian. She is also survived by her sisters Elizabeth Cavallo and Angelina Piro, and brother Pasquale Malerba of New York.

She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Sadie Torre and Frances DiApice, and her brothers Joseph Malerba and Samuel Malerba.
She leaves her legacy in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family was her most cherished accomplishment and source of joy. She was generous with her love, and all who knew her were touched by her kind heart, abundant patience, sense of humor, and gentle spirit. She was a gift for which we are truly grateful.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Center for Hospice Care of Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St., Norwich, CT 06360. The family would like to thank Chris and Kathy of Hospice SECT, her caregivers; Frita and Sarah, and most special thank you to Sister Rita.
