Phyllis Ann Martindale was called to her Heavenly Father this last Tuesday, July 4th, 2017 in Abilene, Texas. She was born Phyllis Ann Warner on April 4th, 1938 to I.J. and Blanch Warner in Exira, Iowa. Phyllis was raised in both Iowa and Washington states. Phyllis met and later married Frank Daniel Martindale on July 28th, 1956 in Moses Lake, Washington. Phyllis was a military wife most of her life. She followed her husband Frank from Air Force base to Air Force base across the United States making a home for her family wherever they were stationed for 27-years 9-months of active duty and another 17 years of civil service. Dan and Phyllis lived in Washington, New Mexico, Louisiana, California, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas during their time of service. At times of lengthy deployments by her husband overseas she held down the home front as both Mom and Dad to her three children. As her children grew up, Phyllis took on jobs at Austin Elementary School lunchroom and later as Manager at Bonanza Steak house, both in Abilene. Friends and family will all agree that if you ever showed up at her house hungry or thirsty you would not leave there in that same condition. Phyllis loved to cook and loved to see people full and happy. The more people she could fit around a dinner table the happier she was. She was truly loved and will be missed by numerous family members, neighbors and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Lloyd, LaVerne and Lyle. Phyllis is survived by her brother, Victor Warner, his wife Ann of Cincinnati, OH; husband, Frank Martindale Sr. of 61 years; three children, Frank (Danny) Jr., his wife Deborah and their son Joseph of Houston, TX; Jonathan, his wife Marla and sons Joshua and Chris, and daughter, Stacy of Merkel, TX and daughter Sonya Wilburn, her husband David and their sons, David, Matthew and Timothy of Amarillo, TX. Phyllis had and loved all six of her grandsons and 11 great-grandchildren they had been blessed with.
