Phyllis Elaine Logsdon (Yarbrough, Oates) Davis, age 76, recently from Dallas, TX passed away peacefully on September 4, 2017 at Heritage Health in Bloomington, Illinois.
She was born November 15, 1940 to Lloyd Elson and Ethel May (Triplett) Logsdon of Armstrong County, in the family home just a few miles outside of Claude, Texas. Phyllis was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Claude where, as a child, she asked Jesus to be her savior. Phyllis was a proud Claude Mustang from elementary through high school. Her first love was playing basketball, but she also reluctantly played volleyball because that was a requirement to be on the basketball team. She also became a cheerleader just so she could travel with the boys' teams and watch more sports. An accomplished beauty, she was crowned Miss Armstrong County. She graduated from Claude High School with a scholarship to Wayland Baptist University to be a basketball "Flying Queen." Her original desire was to be a coach. After marrying, she graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas and taught elementary school all around Texas and in Wyoming. In Cheyenne, WY Phyllis' occupation took a turn, and she oversaw her ownership of several Snelling and Snelling employment agencies in Wyoming, Nebraska, and Colorado. She lived in Cheyenne for over 10 years before moving back to Texas and the Dallas area. Among other positions in the Dallas area, she traveled as a business mentor and consultant. She recently moved to Bloomington, IL from Dallas, TX to be near family. She was the most positive and generous person we all know.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by a son, Lt Colonel Craig Yarbrough of Sumter, SC and Dallas, TX; a daughter, Michelle Cope (Bill) and their children, Taylor Cope and Tucker Cope of Bloomington, IL; and one sister, Carolyn (Stan) Wilkes of Waco, TX; and many other loved family members.
No services are planned at this time. A celebration of Phyllis' life will be held on a future date in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Claude School Alumni Association PO Box 282, Claude, TX 79019
