Dr. Roy L. Clark Sr., 85, of Skull Valley, AZ passed away Friday, December 13, 2013 at home. He was born March 14, 1928 in Freeman Spur, Illinois, the son of Walter Homer and Ethel Bell Gladden Clark. Dr. Clark has spent the bulk of his adult life in academia. He received his M.S. and PH.D. from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Speech and Communication. He lived for 15 years in Germany. Four of those years in the US Army's , "Army Security Agency", where he was a Russian Linguist. Upon returning to America, Dr. Clark taught at SIU Carbondale, Howard University in Washington D.C., Towson State University in Towson, Maryland. After he retired the first time he taught at Essex Community College in Baltimore, Maryland and Mesa Community College, Mesa, Arizona. Upon his last retirement he achieved a life long dream of writing novels.
He is survived by Joan Ellard his Fiance'; two brothers; William Clark & Samuel Clark of Chicago, myriad nieces and nephews, his 5 children; Ade'
Ngano, Boris and Django Clark, Roy Clark Jr. and Cheryl Wagner, their children and grandchildren.
Roy chose to have his body donated to science and will be cremated after research. The family will celebrate Roy's life during warmer weather and his final remains will be interred in Phoenix at the National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Heritage Memory mortuary of Prescott.
