Raul G. Chavez Sr., 92 of Odessa, Texas passed into eternal life on December 6, 2016. Raul was born March 25, 1924 in Adobes Ranch, Presidio County, Texas. Raul married Margarita Gonzalez on April 19, 1952 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua. They were married for 64 years. Raul and Margarita moved to Odessa from Loving, New Mexico in 1960. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He was a cursillista, a member of Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered for Meals on Wheels after his retirement from Jones Brother Dirt & Paving. Raul is survived by his wife Margarita; Five sons; Father Jose Luis Chavez C.Ss.R., Jesus Alonzo (Kelly) of Andrews, Texas, Carlos (Maria) of Odessa, Raul Jr. of Odessa, and Rene (Julie) of Midland; Two daughters; Silvia (Odessa), and Elvia C. Orras (Louis) of Odessa; Seven Grand-Children; Jesus Alonzo Jr.(Olga), Jerome Andres, Matthew, Jose Primera (Nicole), Justin Primera (Brittany), Emily Orras, and Mia Chavez; Seven Great Grandchildren; Justin & Jacob Chavez, Seth, Mikaela & Natalee Primera, Brylee Gee, and Paisley River Primera; One Brother, Guillermo Chavez of Loving, NM. He is also survived by numerous nieces, and nephews. Raul was preceded in death by his parents Pablo & Josefa Chavez; son Oscar Chavez; Brothers Jose, Angel, Francisco, Armando, Ismael, Jesus, and sister Manuela Jasso. Visitation will be held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors on Friday December 9, 2016 from 9:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:00p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday December 10, 2016 10:00a.m at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church with Father Jose Luis Chavez, C.Ss.R. Officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, Texas. Pallbearers are Jerome Andres, Matthew and Justin Chavez, Jose, Justin, and Seth Primera. Honorary Pallbearers are Emily Orras, Mia Chavez, and Mikaela Primera. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to St. Joseph Home Health Care & Star Hospice.
