Raymond Nazarchyk, age 87, of Fairhaven, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in Our Lady's Haven. He was the husband of Ann (Doige) Rocha-Nazarchyk and the late Bruna (Prosperi) Nazarchyk.

Born in Taunton, a son of the late Karp and Anna (Knapinski) Nazarchyk, he lived most of his life in Fairhaven.

Mr. Nazarchyk served in the Army during World War II in Italy and Germany. He later worked as a Supervisor of Insurance Investigating for Equifax, Inc for 35 years before retiring in 1990. He was the Past Commander of the American Veterans Association of New Bedford for 13 years and Past Historian of the Polish American Veterans of Massachusetts, where he also served two years as Senior Vice Commander. He was a member of the American Legion of Boston, AARP and former member of the Sons of Italy. He was an avid traveler, fisherman, and boatsman.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother, Frederick Nazarchyk and his wife Alice of Fairhaven; a sister, Anastasia Mathieu and her husband Gustive of China, ME; two step daughters, Suzanne Gardella of Fall River and Beth Potter of Fairhaven; two step sons, Daniel Rocha, Jr. and his wife Liz and Edward Rocha, all of Tiverton; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Dorothea Rose.

His Funeral will be Monday, May 2, 2016 at 10AM in St. Joseph's Church, Spring St., Fairhaven. Burial in River-Side Cemetery, Main St., Fairhaven. Visitation will be Sunday 2PM to 5PM at WARING-SULLIVAN at FAIRLAWN, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, 19 Willis St., New Bedford MA 02740.
