Reid Fairfax Carter
Reid passed away on December 5, 2017, he was 98 years old.

Reid was born in New York City on March 19, 1919 to Anthony Jarhart Carter and Florence Braithwaite Carter. Reid is survived by: His beloved wife of 63 years, Janette, brother Anthony J. Carter and wife Louise of Denver, Colorado, son Reid Carter and wife Nellie of New York, son Bruce Carter and wife Sally and his granddaughter Dana Pritchard of The Woodlands, Texas, his daughter Laura Logan and husband Jim of Charleston, South Carolina, his granddaughter Ashley Teater, husband Dan and great-granddaughter Kennedy Olivia Teater of Lexington, South Carolina, and his grandson Tyler Logan of Washington, D.C..
After the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 he enlisted in the US Navy. As a combat Navy Air Veteran of WWII he was a member of a land based Navy bomber crew as radioman and tail gunner. The squadron saw action in the North Atlantic and was further deployed to Admiral Nimitz's 7th fleet in the South Pacific. Reid was awarded five bronze stars and numerous additional awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross presented by the Secretary of the Navy.
After the war, Reid joined the Chevron Corporation and retired after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists, the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and the American Legion. He also represented Chevron in the loaned executive program of the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast. Reid will be missed by his family and many friends.
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet, Bellaire, TX. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time. Private interment will be held at Houston National Cemetery.
