Reno D. Tondelli, 89, of Rockford passed away peacefully, Friday, March 9, 2012, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Reno was born in Chicago, IL, August 22, 1922, son of Ennio Tondelli and Josephine (Otello) Tondelli.
Reno was a veteran of WWII having served in the United State Army.
Married Julie Lalor. Reno was a jazz pianist having worked on staff at ABC and NBC Television in Chicago, IL, as well as WGN Radio and Television Station. He loved performing and teaching music. Since 2009, Reno had been performing weekly at Franchesco's Ristorante.
Reno was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Julie; He was a loving and devoted father of 13 children, sons, John Tondelli, James (Debbie) Tondelli, Phillip (Jan) Tondelli, Anthony (Terry) Tondelli, Reno (Diane) Tondelli, Dominic Tondelli; daughters, Renee (Eddie) Tondelli, Andrea Nicolopoulos, Mary Tondelli, Catherine Tondeli, Christine (Jerry) Ryan and Gigia Tondelli; 18 grandchildren, John, Natalile, James, Joseph, Daniel, Jason, Mickey, Taylor, Cal, Zachary, Ethan, Emily, Madeline, Tracey, Nicolle, Leo, Rocco and Ruby.
Predeceased by parents and grandson, Joseph.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 HIghcrest Road, Rockford. Fr. David Vogel will officiate. Visitation at 10:30 a.m. followed by Rosary at 11:00 a.m.
Burial in Miramar National Cemetery, San Diego, CA.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials to the family.
