REVA R. STRODE, 91, of Burnet (Lake Buchanan), Texas, was called to the Lord on July 13, 2017, after battling pneumonia and suffering a stroke.

She was born September 20, 1925 in Engelhard, North Carolina to Lofton and Pearl Blake Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel, located at 5400 North Street in Nacogdoches, officiated by Rev. Randy Green, Christ Congregational Church, Lufkin. She will be laid to rest following the service at Bethel Cemetery in Appleby, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Bruce Weir, Vic Bass, Chris Ryan, Von Lowery, Tanner Bass, and Rocko Ryan.

Reva was a skilled seamstress who loved to sew. She was a member of the Ladies of the Lake and Bluebonnet Society. She lived in Houston and retired to Lake Buchanan in 1979. She loved to shop Library Thrift Store and had a cane named Willie Nelson.

Reva was preceded in death by her father, Lofton Smith; mother, Pearl Blake Smith; husband, Charles Beresford Strode; brothers, Virgil, Bernis, and Norwood; and sisters, Cova, Wanda, and Grace.

She is survived by her daughter, Janet S. Strode of Houston, Texas; son, Kenneth A. Strode of Lufkin, Texas; niece, Mitzi Smith Davila of Humble, Texas, and her daughters Megan and Amanda; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dogs, Baby Jo and Ladybug.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Brenda Starnes, Mitzi Davila, and Jacquelyn Lowery for their help and support planning the services. They would also like to give thanks to Oaks Nursing Center for their loving tender care; and to Sue Rainwater, Bruce Weir, and Nancy Fisher Weir for watching over Reva.
