Richard D. "Clem" Morgan , 79, of Hartford, beloved husband of Alma (Tartt) Morgan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday December 25, 2013 at St. Francis Hospital. He was born in Rockville, Connecticut predeceased by his parents Albertus and Frances (Hogg) Morgan. Richard's dedication started as a young adult enlisting in the United States Air Force with years of service during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he volunteered with the Manchester Volunteer Fire Department, and worked for Amberbelle Corporation of Rockville, CT for over 44 years before retiring. As an active servant in the Hopewell Baptist Church, Windsor, CT he was a member of the Male Choir with service as Vice-President for two years. Richard also was a member of the Hartford Chapter of AARP #5266. Richard gave freely of himself the value of loyalty to his family and those fortunate enough to have met him. An avid sports fan he enjoyed everything from baseball to football. His love for the outdoors allowed him to enjoy fishing and gardening. Richard is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 31 years, Alma Lee Morgan of Hartford; a nephew Lawrence Dunbar, of Hartford; a niece Marcia Dunbar; a devoted cousin Doris Jones, of Bloomfied, CT; a devoted great niece Sonja L. Tartt, a devoted great-great nephew Jonathan C. Bailey, II of Duluth, GA both of whom he raised; a God-son Antonio Lucas of Newark, DE. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers William, Albertus Jr, Ronald and his sister Helen Lindo. A homegoing service will be held at 11 am Thursday January 2, 2014 at Hopewell Baptist Church, 280 Windsor Avenue, Windsor, CT 06095, followed by the burial at the State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown, CT. The family will receive friends prior to service 10 am to 11 am.
