Richard F. Elliott , 86, of Marlow, passed away on September 6, 2017 at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene following a brief illness.

He was born August 9, 1931 in Bellows Falls, VT, the son of Olive J. (Scranton) and Frank C. Elliott. Known to his family and friends as "Dick" or "Red" he grew up in and around Marlow and was educated locally in Marlow and Alstead.

Dick entered the military at an early age and proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Army. He served two tours in Germany, two tours in Korea and several tours at stateside installations both in the Infantry and Armor. During his time stationed in Germany, Richard met the love of his life, Frieda Konig. They married on March 26, 1955. Upon retiring from the military in 1969, he and his family relocated back to Marlow. Dick worked locally for Sprague and Carlton, with his brothers in Home Construction, the NH DOT in Marlow and finished his working career at Fuller Machine in Alstead.

Dick was a lifetime member of the VFW, American Legion, and NRA as well as a member of The Retired Enlisted Association.

Dick was a man of strong convictions and will be fondly remembered for his great commitment to anything he put his mind to - from organizations to beliefs, but most of all to his family. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called him "Pops" and "Papa". He enjoyed the outdoors, camping and especially his trips up north to Pittsburg for Moose Fest weekends and hunting and fishing.

Richard will be dearly missed by his wife of over 62 years: Frieda Elliott of Marlow; daughters: JoAnn May and her husband Bill of Marlow, Sandra Kenyon and her husband Garry of Marlow, and Diane Coon and her husband Raymond of Hillsborough; brothers: Donald Elliott of Marlow, Guy Elliott and his wife Becky of Marlow; sister-in-laws: Katherine Elliott of Marlow, Rose Elliott of Marlow, and Carol Hobbs of Keene; grandchildren: Kelly, Bill, and Adam May; Garry and his wife Bethany Kenyon, AJ and her husband Glenn Britton; Mark Bouley, Shannon and her husband Jacques Bernier; great-grandchildren: Madison and Payton May; Noah Britton; Samantha, Mark, Valerie and Alexis Bouley and Piper Bernier; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

He is predeceased by his brothers: James Elliott, Charles Elliott, and David Elliott; and sister-in-law: Beverly Elliott.

Family and friends are invited to call at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
