Richard Howard Larson, son of the late Ivar and Linnea Larson, was born January 15, 1925, in Jamestown, New York, and passed away on March 19, 2017, in Escondido, California.
He grew up in Long Beach, California, where he met and married Tina Veenhouwer on October 25, 1950. Richard and Tina raised their six daughters in Escondido, where for over thirty years he owned and operated the Parkview Laundromat, located at the corner of Rose and Washington. Richard sponsored many Parkview Laundromat girls' softball teams and enjoyed watching his daughters play on them. He loved all kinds of music, especially singing with his daughters around the piano. Richard loved horse racing and pitching quarters at the local barbershop. He had a quick wit and relished a good political debate. He was a selfless, hardworking man who was much loved by his family and friends and who will be dearly missed by them.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Larson, his sister Roberta Arnett (James), and his six daughters: Patricia Hammer (Eric), Betty Larson, Louise Ward (Dana), Ingrid Yeager (Clark), Marianne Moore (Brooke), and Joan Vinje. He is also survived by his many grandchildren: Jolene Yeager, Zach Yeager, Kris Yeager, Julie Birt, Elisabeth Hammer, Jake Ward, and Richard Barkhausen, and his great-grandchildren: Terre Clarke, Zane Clark, and Till Yeager.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 500 La Terraza Blvd., Escondido, CA, 92025.
McLeod Mortuary is handling arrangements.
