Dr. Peeler was born on September 9, 1926 in Salisbury, NC.

After graduating from Catawba College with highest honors in 1947, Dr. Peeler attended and graduated from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1951. On December 27, 1951, Dr. Peeler wed Frances Anne Signorelli, his beloved wife, closest confidant, and best friend of 66 years. Shortly after graduation, he served his country as a medical officer in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Captain. Returning to their beloved Maryland in 1955, Dr. Peeler held academic and clinical positions at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Dr. and Mrs. Peeler moved to the family's current homestead, located on the banks of the Severn River in Annapolis, in May of 1957, at which time Dr. Peeler joined the medical staff of the Anne Arundel Medical Center (known at that time as Anne Arundel General Hospital). He served AAMC, at various times throughout his tenure, as Chief of Medical Service; Chairman of the Medical Board; President of the Medical Staff; Director of the Coronary Care Unit; Chairman of the Joint Conference Committee; Chairman of the Hospital Infections Committee; and Medical Director of the Outpatient Intravenous Services. In the early 1970's, Dr. Peeler co-founded the Infection Control and Epidemiology program at AAMC, serving for a short time as the hospital's epidemiologist. Dr. Peeler also volunteered his time in service to the AAMC Planning, Centennial, and Centennial Book Committees. Dr. Peeler served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and as a Visiting Lecturer in the Physician Assistant Program at Anne Arundel Community College.

A founding member of the Annapolis Medical Specialists, Dr. Peeler began his private practice in Annapolis in 1957, actively and expertly serving the community and its citizens for over 45 years as a specialist in Internal Medicine, and specifically, Infectious Disease. He was a gifted diagnostician who touched the lives of countless patients and their grateful family members. Dr. Peeler retired from private practice in 1996.

Dr. Peeler was an ardent musician, amateur photographer, and a connoisseur of fine art. He and Mrs. Peeler traveled the world together enjoying firsthand the beauty of our national and international treasures and places. Throughout his life he remained a life-long student, studying in depth any and all topics that piqued his curiosity and interest.
