Richard Wallace Gingery, 94, formerly of El Paso, TX, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23 2017 in Arlington, TX. Services will be held Friday, January 5th, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Grand Prairie Texas.

Dick was born Nov. 29, 1923 in Indianapolis, IN to Walter and Clara Gingery. He was the
youngest of six children.

He served in the US Army as a medic on the Burma Road in East Asia. He was discharged as a corporal in 1945.

He graduated from Earlham College and moved to El Paso, where he was employed as a middle school coach. It was there that he met his wife of 66 years, June Bower. He went on to be an athletic director with the YMCA, then the North branch Y director, the East Branch Y director, and ending his career as the executive director of the El Paso YMCA's.

Dick was always interested in people, talking and interacting with anyone and everyone. He enjoyed classical music and playing racquetball, hand ball, tennis and camping. He and June travelled extensively all their lives, going all around the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters and his wife. He is survived by two daughters: Janis and husband Nathan Jefferson of Amarillo, and Traci and husband Richard Kourajian of Arlington; and one son, David Gingery and wife Christy of Buna, TX: eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
