Sister Rita Laprade (Sr. Louise Dolores) S.U.S.C., died June 8 at Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River at the age of ninety-eight. Sr. Rita was the oldest member of the United States Province of the Holy Union Sisters. The daughter of the late Edmond and Emma (Menoche) Laprade, Sr. Rita was born in Providence. Her brother Adelard Laprade pre-deceased her. Her sister-in-law, Mrs. Doris Laprade and nephews Dennis and David Laprade as well as grandnieces and nephews survive Sr. Rita.

A graduate of the former Jean Baptiste Academy, Pawtucket, Sr. Rita entered the Holy Union Sisters in Fall River, MA on September 8, 1936. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Catholic Teachers College, Providence, a MEd from Boston College and an MA in Business Education and Office Administration from Catholic University, Washington.

Sr. Rita taught in elementary schools in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She served as principal at Assumption School, Chelsea and Our Lady of Pity School in Cambridge. She taught at Our Lady of Pity High School, Cambridge and Rose Hawthorne High School, Concord. In Rhode Island, she taught French and Business Education at St. Jean Baptiste Academy and St. Raphael Academy. From 1984 to 1997 she was the Business Manager at St. Raphael's Academy. In September 2016 she celebrated her eightieth anniversary as a member of the congregation.

Her Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 13, 2017 in the Solarium at the Catholic Memorial Home, 2446 Highland Avenue, Fall River from 9:00 to 10:00AM followed by the Prayer Vigil from 10:00 to 10:20AM and then a Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Margaret Mary Chapel at 10:30AM.
