Robert Mata, 80, of Killeen Texas lost his battle with cancer on September 27. He was born October 13 1936 in Aragon, New Mexico.
He is survived by his wife Renata Mata, and his 7 children, Melek, Gaby, Mary, Debbie, Connie, Sylvia and BobbieLee. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; along with his siblings, Luciano, Marcella, Lydia, Raynaldo, David and Gil.

Robert is a veteran of the Vietnam War, and he served his country for 24 years. Once retired from the army he worked at Metroplex Hospital well into his 70s. Robert(Bob) Enjoyed fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, going to bingo with his wife, and more than anything, painting. He was an extremely talented artist and could often times be found painting in his garage with his beloved dog, beau, by his side.

He will be greatly missed by many people, as he was the patriarch of a very large, close-knit family.

Services for Robert will be held at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at noon with full military honors.
