Robert Anton Lux, 89, formerly of Stuart, FL, died September 2, 2017 in Clemmons, North Carolina.
He was born December 3, 1927 in Warwick, Rhode Island to Rudolph and Ruth Scallen Lux.
Robert was a graduate of St. Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and earned a Bachelor's degree at Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. He took great pride in his service in the United States Army.
At his high school prom he met Marie Callahan who was the love of his life. They married in 1951 and their love endured until her passing in 2014. Together, they modeled an exemplary marriage for their children and grandchildren.
Robert worked in sales and marketing, highly specialized in the hydraulics/pneumatics industry, for a number of large corporations, ultimately becoming CEO. His work took him and his family to many locations in the United States, including Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Florida. Even in retirement, he worked actively as CEO and Owner of an Executive Recruiting Firm for twenty years.
For thirty years, regardless of where they called home, summers were spent in Dennis, MA on Cape Cod Bay.
In 2008 Robert and Marie moved to North Carolina to be near family as age began to take its toll on their health.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife; a brother, Rudolph Lux jr.; and a sister, Edith Lux McGoldrick.
Robert is survived by three daughters, Karen Ankerbrandt of North Beach, MD, Jo Ann West Gerst (Paul) of Winston-Salem, NC and Regis Worsoe (Johs) of New York City; six grandchildren, Kristen Vahia (Ojas) of New York City, Matthew Ankerbrandt (Jordan) of Silver Spring, MD, Michael West (Erin) of Washington, DC, Robert West of Virginia Beach, VA, Diana West of Huntersville, NC, and Nicholas Worsoe of New York City; and two great grandchildren, Caroline and Patrick West of Washington, DC.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday, September 16 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 1730 Link Rd. Winston-Salem. Interment of ashes will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. Frank Vogler & Sons Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
