CHILLICOTHE ~ Robert Elliott “Bob” Campbell, Jr., 74, of Chillicothe, passed away at 11:58 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2020 at his home.  He was formerly of Dunlap.

Born August 7, 1945 in Peoria to Robert Elliott, Sr. and Vera Marie (Carver) Campbell, he married Darlene Johnson.

Surviving are his partner, Kay Ann Gladson of Chillicothe; three children, Kathryn (Dan) Callahan of Bartonville, Clay (Chrissy) Campbell and Wesley Campbell, both of Washington; three grandchildren; and his twin sister, Rebecca (Don) May of Princeton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother in 1938 and his beloved dog, Baby.

A United States Army veteran, he served from October 28, 1965 to October 20, 1967. 

Bob worked for Caterpillar, Inc. on the manifold line and later was a time-keeper in East Peoria, retiring in 1998 after 33 years of service.  He also had driven grain trucks, did mowing and tree trimming.  He was known as “Wood Cutter Bob”. 

He was a former member of the American Legion.  He enjoyed traveling.

Private burial will be at Prospect Cemetery in Dunlap.  A gathering celebrating Bob’s life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
