Robert E. Roberts (also called Bob Roberts) was born November 11, 1917 to Levoy Roberts and Malinda Haynes Roberts in Caldwell County of Dale, Texas
In 1935 he served in the Civilian Conservation Core for 3 ½ years.

In 1940 he married Lee Esther Roland in Corpus Christy, Texas and joint St. John's Baptist Church where he also served as a deacon in that church. To this union they were blessed with Kirtscena A. Roberts and J. Danell Roberts.

Robert joined the United States Army in 1943, where he served in New Guinea and the Philippines.

In 1947 after his enlistment he moved to Chicago, Illinois and enrolled in school specializing in HVAC and Plumbing Engineering. He was the only African American graduate in his class.

He was employed by Pullman Railroad as a pipefitter, installing HVAC systems in railroad cars.

In 1950 he was employed by the University of Chicago at the Enrico Fermi Institute as a technician to the physicist working on the cyclotron (atom smasher) developing high energy physics. He began working for National Accelerator Labs in Batavia, Ilinois in 1973 as supervisor maintenance engineering until he retired in 1983.

From 1983 to 2009 he was C.E.O. of Bob Roberts Mechanical Contractors; designing and installing HVAC, plumbing and hydronic heating systems.

Bob was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church under Pastor E.L. Smith where he served as a trustee and director of the Baptist Training Union.

Preceding him in death was his daughter Kirtiscena, sister Beula Mae Roberts Fennel and brothers; Manual C. Roberts, Thomas O. Roberts (T.O.), Robert L. Roberts (R.L.) and Rev. L.M. Roberts (Levie).

On March 6, 2016 God laid him down gently.

He leaves to cherish and continue his legacy with his wife, Lee Esther Roberts, son; J. Danell Roberts, grandsons, Christnam Roberts, Irancris Coleman-Roberts, Justin D. Roberts; granddaughter Candace Noel Roberts; Great grandsons Jackson Roberts, Jordan Roberts, Tyler Roberts and a host of family and friends.
