Robert "Bob" H. Silver, age 89, of Fairhaven, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Care One of New Bedford. He was the loving husband of Jean (McDonnell) Silver. They met while working at the Atlas Tack and shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Fairhaven and a lifelong resident, he was the son of the late Percy E. and Marion (Humphrey) Silver. Bob was a graduate of Fairhaven High School, class of 1945.

Mr. Silver was a United States Army Veteran having served one year in Austria during the Korean War. He was a demolition expert.

He had a successful career as a plumber and was a member of the UA Local 51 and United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the US and Canada.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who loved the ocean, fishing, hunting, gardening and any outdoor activity with his family. He was a Founding Member and longtime President of the Sconticut Neck Boating and Fishing Club. He also enjoyed the companionship of his beloved dogs.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Judith Ann Lowe and husband Ed of Assonet, James R. Silver and wife Andrea of Kemah, TX, Kenneth W. Silver of Fairhaven and Gregory M. Silver and wife Cheryl of Westport; three sisters, Shirley Richard and husband Conrad of Acushnet, Barbara Plant and late husband Charles of Dartmouth and Nancy Bendiksen and husband John "Joe" of Clearwater, FL; three grandchildren, Reed, Matthew and Jacob Silver; four step-grandchildren, Erik S. Gemaly, Christopher J. Costa, Emily and Guinnevere Lowe; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 9:30am-11:00am with a Celebration of Life at 11:00am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Fairlawn, 180 Washington St., Fairhaven. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
