Robert LeRoy "Bob" Mason, age 73 of rural Albion, IL passed from this life to the next on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, Newburgh, IN.
Bob was born on July 20, 1941 in Edwards County to Carl and Mary (Mills) Mason. He graduated from Edwards County High School in 1959. After graduation Bob went to work for Jim Lear at the Ford automotive dealership in West Salem and continued his education at Lockyear Business College in Evansville, IN. He married Kay Litherland on November 26, 1961 at the West Salem Christian Church in West Salem, IL and they have enjoyed over 53 years of adventure together. In 1964, Bob met Murray McLean and began a business partnership as a John Deere dealership. In 1966, Bob purchased Murray's half of the business but maintained the McLean business name in an effort to save money. Bob and the employees of McLean Implement grew the business to the five locations that it is today. He enjoyed going to work and meeting people and was a member of the First Christian Church in West Salem, IL.
His hobbies included playing golf, keeping up with the horse shows that his daughter and granddaughter attended and spending time with and enjoying the fellowship of friends and family both in Illinois and Florida.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marilyn Kay (Litherland) Mason, mother-in-law, Pluma Litherland of West Salem , daughter Melinda "Mindy" Renee (Micheal "Mike") Clark of Albion, grandchildren: Casey Marie (Joe) Hillenbrand of Evansville, IN and Robert Micheal Clark of Albion, two great-grandchildren: Evan Michael Hillenbrand and Emilia Jo Hillenbrand.
He is also survived by one sister, Alberta (Theron) Jenner, of West Salem, three brothers: Ronald (Dee) Mason of West Salem, Larry (Diane) Mason of Olney, IL, Jerry (Debbie) Mason of West Salem and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Marc.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 29, 2015 after 3PM at the First Christian Church of West Salem, IL.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10AM on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the church.
Burial will follow at the Moravian Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Edwards County Senior Citizens Center, Edwards County Future Farmers of America, Wabash Christian Retirement Center, Oil Belt Christian Service Camp or Johnson University - Florida.
