Mr. Robert R. Mendel, 79, of Adams, died Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
He was born in Adams on April 7, 1939, a son of the late Walter and Mary (Brendza) Mendel, and attended Adams schools, including the former Adams High School.
A master electrician, Bob last worked at General Electric Co.in Pittsfield for 25 years, until retiring. Earlier, he had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams, and had apprenticed at GEM Electric in Adams.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He enjoyed fishing and mushrooming.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Julia C. Pontier, whom he married on June 3, 1961;
three daughters, Deborah Mendel of Adams; Dina Mendel of Cleveland, Ohio; and Jill Mendel of Adams;
a son, Robert Mendel of Wake Forest, NC; three grandchildren, Andrey, Nikolai and John; two brothers, Walter Mendel of Wappingers Falls, NY and Anthony Mendel of Adams; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Truskowski.
Funeral services and burial will be private. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to St. Stanislaus School, 108 Summer St. Adams, MA 01220.
