Robert S. Brown of Ferndale died on Monday February 20, 2012. He was born on August 30, 1919 on the family ranch at Centerville.

He attended Centerville School and Ferndale High School. He served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1945. He married Nina May Corbett in 1950 and shared 61 years together, raisingthe fourth generation of Browns on the family homestead where he was born and died.

He was a dairymen, a rancher, and an "innovative jack of all trades". He worked many years in the rural water supply business serving the residents of Eel River Valley and the surrounding communities.

He is survived by his wife Nina Brown of Ferndale,his sister Jean Iskra of Catherdral City; children Katherine Browngardner (Jonathan) of Redding, Margaret Miranda of Fortuna, Tom Brown (Babe) of Philomath OR and George Brown (Hilery) of Eureka and son in law Tim Wozich of Cottage Grove OR. Grandchildren Mike Miranda II (Lisa),of Coquille OR, Mark Miranda (Nikki), of Ferndale,Rebecca Drake (Ken) of Fortuna, Dwight Wozich of Bejing China , Clark Wozich of Kansas, Joshua Brown, Jessica Brown, Mark Brown, Travis (Windy)Brown, Levi (Amanda) Brown, DeeAnne Brown Barnhart (Clayton) all ofOregon, Calvin Brown, Caleb Brown, and Caitlin Brown all of Eureka; 15 great grandchildren, numerous neices, nephews, cousins, brother and sisterin-laws.

He was preceeded in death by his parents Winford and Bertha Hilgardner Brown,in-laws Catherine and Paul Snell, George and Jennie Corbett,daughters Roberta Brown Wozich and Eva Teresa Brown.

A memorial service for friends and family will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 25 at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds in the Little Red School House. Potluck luncheon will follow.
