Robert Vernon Long, born June 11, 1932, in Enterprise, OR, was taken by the hand and led to his eternal home on November 17, 2017 in Oregon City, OR.

Rob entered school in September, 1938 and graduated from the same building in Enterprise in 1950. Shortly after his graduation, the Korean War broke out and he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving 25 years. He retired from the US Government in 1986. The Masonic Fraternity was a large part of Rob's life. He was an active member and leader in many of its various organizations, beginning with the DeMolay in the late 1940's. He served in many different capacities over the years but most notably was presiding as Grand High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons of Oregon and Grand Commander of Knights Templar of Oregon.

Survived by his wife of almost 60 years Louise Jane "Janie" (Nothiger). Four children: Renae (Michael) Evans of Alexandria, VA, Robert (Christina) Long Jr. of Troutdale, Ronda (John) Tyers III of Manassas, VA, and Risa (Mark) Northway of Oregon City; 10 grandchildren: Kelly Johnson, Erin Malonson, John Tyers IV, Brandi Long, Robert "Wesley" Tyers, Casey Evans, Alexander Tyers, Jeremy Northway, Garrett Long and Melissa Northway; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Wade Long and Maxine (Pfeiffer) Long and sister Judith Ann Thorne.

The memorial service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church (2036 SE Jefferson, Milwaukie) on Saturday, November 25, at 11am. Private interment will follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens in NW Portland.
