Retired Oklahoma State Trooper Rodney Gaylan McCrady, 65, a longtime resident of Del City, OK, died on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Norman Regional Hospital. As a devoted public servant, he became a Road Trooper in 1978, later served as a Supervisor, and a Troop Commander. McCrady's law enforcement career spanned 22 years.

Born on December 2, 1951 in Mangum, OK to Edward Curtis and Helen Inez (Lanford) McCrady. Rodney was a member of Del City Church of Christ. He was an avid OU football fan. In his past time, he enjoyed fishing, writing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his big caring heart, contagious smile, sense of humor, and being a practical joker. He deeply cherished time spent with his family especially his children, and never passed up an opportunity to have them in his presence.

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Curtis and Helen Inez McCrady and a brother Christopher Franklin McCrady.

He is survived by his children, Tobi Dawn McCrady of Oklahoma City, OK, Casey Curtis McCrady and wife Jessica of Colorado Springs, CO, Devin Caleb Quinn McCrady of Norman, OK; sister Dawn LaDean Nikkel and husband Larry of Topeka, KS; sister-in-law Edi McCrady of Van Alstyne, TX; eight grandchildren, four nieces, four nephews, five great nieces, three great nephews and a host of relatives and friends.


The family will be receiving guests on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
