Ronald Dale Boyd of Nacogdoches passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Willowbrook Nursing Home in Nacogdoches at the age of 71 years, 1 month, and 7 days.

He was born September 19, 1946, in Port Arthur to parents J.L. and Mildred (Morris) Boyd.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Billy Joe Deaton officiating.

Mr. Boyd is a United States Air Force Veteran who served his country proudly in the Vietnam War where he earned the rank of Staff Sargent E5. He was also recognized for his good conduct, given a National Defense Medal, Unit Citation, and a Marksmanship Medal (expert).

After being honorably discharged, Ron returned to the United States and earned his Associate's Degree. He went on to become an air traffic controller for the Federal Aviation Administration. He was proud to have established the Lower Rio Grande Air Traffic Radar. He was also a member of the GAO investigation group.

Mr. Boyd's proudest family moments came with the birth of his sons, Eric and Farrell. He said that the things that made him smile most in life were his wife, Nona, and reminiscing. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and reading about history.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Nona Boyd of Nacogdoches; son, Eric Boyd and his children Elle Boyd and Thomas Boyd of Corpus Christi; son, Farrell Boyd and wife Crystal and their son Maxwell Boyd of Corpus Christi; step-son, Michael Prince and wife Rachel and their daughters Abigail, Annabelle, Allie Prince of Kemp, Texas; step-daughter, Kathi Prince of Tyler; and brother, Robert Boyd and wife Janelle of Bridge City.
