Ronald L. Kauffman, 70, of State Line, PA, died unexpectedly at 3:51 P.M. on Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born February 19, 1943 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Oliver D. and Hazel I. (Snyder) Kauffman. He graduated from Quincy High School with the class of 1961. He married Phyllis (White) Kauffman on February 17, 1995 in Hagerstown, MD. Ronald was employed as an engine tester for Mack Truck, dedicating 45 ½ years and many long hours to a job and a company he highly respected. His position allowed him to travel all across the U.S. and beyond. With his family at his side, he often traveled for leisure also. One of his spare time activities was metal detecting. He enjoyed a good joke and life in general. He also loved dogs, especially "his boys" two Shih Tzu's, Buddy and Socks. He was an intelligent man with great mechanical abilities, often using those skills to assist family and friends. He was passionate about eagles, which may have spurred his own desire to fly. He was a private pilot and a member of QB Pilots Assoc. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Rhonda M. Kauffman, Chambersburg, PA and Sherri L. Kauffman, Lemasters, PA; three step-children: Anthony L. Robinson, Tina M. Evans and Duane E. Robinson; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley M. Baker, State Line and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 in Miller-Bowersox Funeral Home, 521, S. Washington St. Greencastle, PA, with Rev. J. Denise Smelley officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle. A viewing will be held from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 26th in the funeral home. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com.
