Ronald Lee DeMartino died on December 22, 2017 in Kingwood, TX after a brief illness. Ron was born on February 20, 1943, along with his beloved twin sister, Rose, in New Haven, CT, to Leo and Carmel DeMartino.

Ron graduated from West Haven High School in 1961, and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in chemical engineering from Yale University. He married Joann Schmitt in 1967 and they remained loving partners until her death in 2016.

Ron spent his entire career with Exxon, beginning in New Jersey. He and Joann had extended assignments in Columbia and The Philippines, and together with their children, lived for 4 years in the Netherlands. They moved to Kingwood in 1987.

Ron's true passions were family, books, and basketball, which he played in organized leagues well into his 50's. He was the family ace at games such as Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and crossword puzzles. However, he will be forever remembered by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him as a hardworking, quiet, but kind, considerate and compassionate man.

Ron's entire family is saddened by his untimely passing. He is survived by his son and daughter in-law David Thomas DeMartino and Tanya Marie DeMartino of Atascocita, TX: his son and daughter-in-law Brian James DeMartino and Keri Ann Colgan DeMartino of Yorba Linda, CA; his grandchildren Kacy and Andrew DeMartino of Yorba Linda, CA: and step-grandchildren Paige and Chase Livingston of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He is also survived by his sister, Rose Earley, of Cheshire, CT and his brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Myrna DeMartino, of Novato, CA.

A memorial gathering will be held on December 30th from 1-5pm at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 Highway 59 North, Kingwood, TX 77339. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charities of choice or, alternately, to the Atascocita Fire Department - PALS, 18425 Timber Forest Drive, Humble, TX 77346.
