Ronald Richard Junge, 53, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 14, of a heart attack. He died during his overnight delivery route as a truck driver for Blackhorse Carriers of Lancaster. Keeping his 30-year perfect driving record intact, he was able to pull his tractor-trailer rig safely to the side of the road on Highway 75 between McKinney and Plano before he died.

He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Dorothy and Paul Junge. His first job was at the Marshalltown Haleys grocery store while he was in school. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1981 where his nickname was Buggs and he loved basketball.

He moved to Texas in 1986. He worked for more than 30 years as truck driver for several companies, including Budweiser, Southern Mail and most recently Blackhorse Carriers of Lancaster.

For decades he mowed the yards of friends and neighbors, which gave him great pride and enjoyment. He was a stickler for having a perfect lawn. Most recently, he enjoyed helping his father-in-law, Bobby Scott of Emory, at his pecan orchard on weekends. He loved music and cooking out.

He is known for his great sense of humor that kept friends and family laughing.

He is survived by his wife of one-and-a-half years, Lisa Scott Junge of Mesquite; three sisters, Donna Long of Kent, Wash.; Karla Wittenwyler of Bremerton, Wash.; Bonnie Bartlett of Marshalltown, Iowa; his ex-wife of 17 years, Sherry Taylor-Turner of Azle, plus many other family members and friends who dearly miss him.

His best friend from his hometown in Iowa, Mark Brown of Benbrook, Texas, will perform a celebration of life service on Ron’s birthday, Thursday, Dec. 29, at 10:30 a.m. at the CLife Church in Forney, Texas.
