Ronnie Lee Bowles, 67, of Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017, unexpectedly while doing what he loved, working his postal route, delivering the mail. Ronnie was born in Charleston on September 14, 1949, to the late Robie and Estavon King Bowles. He was a mail carrier with the US Postal Service for 25 years. He was a life time member of the Old Glory Freewill Baptist Church, Winifrede, a 1967 graduate of East Bank High School, he was the pitcher for the 1983 HECKS National Title Holder Softball Team, a former employee for Carbon Fuel with 20 years of service and a devoted WVU Mountaineer fan. Ronnie was proud to serve his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War, serving in Panama. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Rita Burke Bowles; sons, Josh (Emily) Bowles of Belle, Zach (Bobbi) Bowles of Glasgow and Ronnie (Katelyn) Bowles II of Elkview; daughter, Amy (Jimmy) Cooper of Pinch; grandchildren, Avery and Knox Bowles, Brylee Bowles, Sumer, Jessica and Noah Cooper; sisters, Debbie (Jim) Bowles-Derrick of Ripley and Lisa (Rick) Mullins of Montrose, Pennsylvania; nieces, Brandi Mullins Bowyer, Heather Petry and Nicole Petry Wood; nephew, Harley Mullins; and special cousin, Ruby (J.) Longoria of Chicago, Illinois. The funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with the Rev. Tom Burnside officiating. The burial will follow the service with Military Rites at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow. A visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at the funeral home. The family would like to send a special Thank You to his work family and the numerous customers, on Ronnie’s route in Kanawha City, whom he loved and were always giving him something to eat and Drink.
