In memory of Ronnie Wayne McQueary

December 7th 1946 – November 4th 2017

A life well lived – Ronnie Wayne McQueary, 70, went home to the Lord on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, following declining health this past year. In honor of Ronnie, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Tarrant County Food Bank

A native of Sulphur Springs, TX, he moved to Arlington, TX at a young age and graduated from Sam Houston High School. He proudly joined the army in 1968 as a military police officer, which began his long career of service. He was honorably discharged from the military in 1970 with a rank of sergeant E5 and then chose to continue his career in law enforcement, working as a police officer in Arlington (badge #232), Pantego, and Haltom City. Ronnie completed his law enforcement career in Haltom City, as Assistant Chief of Police, and retired in 1994. He then began a new career at Southwest Airlines and was blessed with friendships that lasted a lifetime. After 20 wonderful years with Southwest Airlines, he officially retired from the workforce in 2015.

Ronnie was a man of integrity and had an unwavering work ethic, often holding a second job with security during the earlier years of his career, showing his continuous dedication to his beloved wife and children. Ronnie was most undoubtedly a devoted husband and was joyfully married for decades to the love of his life, Barbara. He was also a devoted family man, and spent most weekends chauffeuring the kids to multiple soccer games during their younger years, cheering them on from the sidelines. And later on in life, once he was blessed with grandkids the endless spoiling began. Nothing made him smile greater than having his grandchildren surrounding him. Ronnie will most certainly be remembered for his strength, love, and dedication to the ones he loved.

Outside of family, one of he and Barbara’s greatest pastime was spent traveling with their best friends, Ken and Patty Gourley, traveling anywhere and everywhere. Although he would most certainly say that his favorite place to travel would be to Winstar or Las Vegas so he could spend hours playing the slot machines.

Ronnie Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his family; wife, Barbara Sirmans McQueary, four children, Larry McClung, Richard Wayne McQueary, Christina Birmingham, and Deanna Kirkpatrick (Brian), four grandchildren, Shalyn McClung, Jackson Kirkpatrick, Henry Kirkpatrick, and Sophia Grace Chinchay-Birmingham, brother-in-laws, Bob Hart and Robert Sirmans, sister-in-laws, Lisa Kelley, Michelle Reynolds (Frank), Nancy Tripi (Bob), Dr. Debbra Sirmans (Dr. Jack Garland), Sherry Brown, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph A. and Maggie “Ti” McQueary, four siblings, Joann Hart, Melba Jean Moorhead, Betty Sue Heath, and Johnny McQueary.
