Rosemarie Augusta Costick of Norwich passed away on December 7, 2017 due to complications from an eight-year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 1, 1927 to the late Frederick G. and Pauline E. (Reif) Harman. A 1944 graduate of Brooklyn's Grover Cleveland High School, she also received an associate degree from Mohegan Community College in 1988 at age 61. Rose married Benjamin J. Costick on August 17, 1947 and embarked on twenty-year naval journey with him. Until retiring in 1987, she was employed as a clerk and a supervisor in the Ledyard and Gales Ferry Post Offices, respectively. Rose's passion for travel led her to 26 states, 12 countries, and involved 3 continents. She is survived by 4 children: Barrie F. (Pauline) Costick of Uncasville, Bruce S. Costick of Florida, Christine M. (Bernard) Laverty of Norwich, and Benjamin J. Costick, Jr. of East Haddam; beloved brother and sister-in-law Frederick G. (Shirley) Harman of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Rose also leaves many special memories of all those she called family and friends both here and abroad (especially the Moretti's, the Bentley's, and the Wujtewicz's). Rose was predeceased by her husband Ben, companion Aldo Moretti, Sisters Paula C. Rolon and Joan D. Rentz, and daughter-in-law Andrea R. (Park) Costick. Burial will be private and in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice or a charity of choice. A visitation will be held at the Labenski Funeral Home, Tuesday, December 12 between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. A mass of Christian burial will be follow on Wednesday, December 13, at Sacred Heart Church, located at: 57 W Town St, in Norwich beginning at 10AM.
