Rosemary P. Emerson, 80, of Ashland, passed away on October 31, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence L. Emerson Sr.; father, Royce J. Payne; mother, Dorothy J. Finn and sister, Dorothy Lee Person. She is survived by her children; Lauri E. Harman (Mike), Larry Emerson Jr. (Donna), Garry L. Emerson (Ruth), Leigh E. Gerald (Eugene) and Lois E. Good (Jeff); grandchildren, Christy H. Layman (Todd), Mike Harman Jr. (Maria), Patrick L. Emerson, Christopher A. Emerson (Lexi), Jennifer G. Varga (Patrick), Samantha Gerald (Cliff), and Kevin W. Cauthorn; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Landon Tate, Jacob and Kristin Layman, Melissa, Morgan, and Elana Evans, Payton and Rylan Varga, and Nathan Cauthorne; sister, Joyce A. Henderson (Henry); brother, Charles "Chuck" Finn (Jane), and a host of nieces and nephews. Rosemary was a long time member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, where she served in years' past on the Altar Guild. She also served as PTA President at St. Joseph's Villa, where her children attended grade school in the 60's. For the last 3 years, Rosemary has resided at The Elizabeth House at Crump Manor in Glen Allen, VA. The family wishes to thank the Elizabeth House staff for their outstanding care and attention to Rosemary during her time there. They also want to thank Capital Caring Hospice for their excellent care of Rosemary during her declining and final weeks, especially Lynn Bowling, RN. Also, Father Chris Haydinger, for his frequent visits to mom and his administering Holy Communion to her. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory - Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Highway, Ashland, VA 23005. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10 am at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 105 S. Snead Street, Ashland, VA 23005. Interment will follow in Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, VA.
