Rosemary Wagner, 88, of Beaver Dam, WI and formerly of Crystal Lake, IL, passed away peacefully at Charleston House in Beaver Dam on December 6th, 2017.
Rosemary was born in Greenville, IL on October 10, 1929, the daughter of Mae and Tollie Thomas. She was united in marriage on December 24, 1950 to Francis "Wag" Wagner. After being widowed for several years, she married Roger Fanter in June, 2010. Rosemary completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois and later obtained her Master's Degree in Library Sciences at Northern Illinois University. She worked as Librarian/Library Director at Cary Grove High School for more than 20 years. Rosemary was an avid reader and book lover, and led several book clubs. She was a member of The American Association of University Women for many years. She sang in the choir at First United Methodist Church and was a frequent volunteer at the Crystal Lake Public Library and Meals on Wheels. Rosemary was an enthusiastic bridge player, an adventurous traveler and a lover of life. She lived every day to the fullest and treasured her family above all else. Her outgoing personality and positive attitude towards life made her a blessing to all who knew her.
Rosemary will be sadly missed by her husband, Roger Fanter, of Crystal Lake, 5 children, Barb (Marc) Wittenberg of Hudson, OH, Jim Wagner of Frankfort, MI, Lou Ann (Bob) Churchill of Arcadia, MI, Kathy (Mark) Holsapple of Beaver Dam, WI, and Ken (Lauren) Wagner of Crystal Lake, IL; 11 grandchildren: Joe Wittenberg, Josh (Meg) Wittenberg, Drew Wittenberg, Becky Wagner, Kelly (Dan) Laszlo, John Wold, Kristen, Patrick and Nick Holsapple, Alex (Amanda) Wagner and Erin Wagner; and four great-grandchildren: Peyton, Marc and Wesley Wittenberg, and Lilly Laszlo; her brother William (Sally Ann) Thomas, other relatives, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis, her parents, and her sister Virginia Cline.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8th from 4 until 7 pm at Querhammer and Flagg Funeral Home, 500 W. Terra Cotta Avenue, Crystal Lake. An additional visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9th from 9am to 10am, followed by a memorial service at 10 am at First United Methodist Church in Crystal Lake.
