Gene went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 9, 2017. His passing was unexpectant Born in Americus, GA, he was the son of the late Roy Bivins McGuire and Laverne Thompson McGuire. Gene was a member of White Rock Baptist Church and was attending First Baptist Church of Irmo. Looking forward to retirement, Gene was completing his career with Applied Maintenance Supplies and Solutions where he was a training manager.

Gene had an unwavering love for the Lord that was evident in his daily life. He was a devoted husband who loved his wife unconditionally. He was fiercely dedicated to his family, considering them to be God’s greatest blessing. He was very kind and compassionate. He effortlessly put the needs of others before his own. He was an avid fly fisherman, outdoorsman, reader, sports enthusiast, who never took God’s blessings for granted. Gene commented daily how fortunate and thankful he was. Gene was a very descriptive story teller and his grandchildren gravitated towards him, always eager to hear a tale. Gene’s kind hearted demeanor and signature gift of encouragement has changed the lives of so many. Comfort is found in the fact that he was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing. As his family grieves the sudden absence of this great man, they find comfort knowing he is safe and secure with his Savior.
